Website Build Status List

UBC Okanagan is currently working on multiple website builds — see below for  a full up-to-date list.

This list follows our current web development process map which outlines the various phases of a build. Builds are categorized into three types:

  • Light touch: Uses only current CMS components, functionality, and styles. No programming or development is required. Content will be added to your site using what we currently have in the CMS. (Determined by IT/UR)
  • Medium touch: Uses mostly all current CMS components. May have some one-of-a-kind style changes or new required functionality added. (Determined by IT/UR)
  • Heavy touch: May require design of new components or development of new functionality. Requires engagement with both IT and University Relations, project plan, time estimates, scheduling, etc. (Determined by IT/UR)

The assessment is conducted by IT & University Relations following the completion of a new website request questionnaire.

This list is updated regularly by UBC Okanagan IT Web Services Team.

[Update November 23, 2020, Discussed the project requirements and timeline. Customer to submit the CSP before the 2020 Christmas break. The expected launch date is Aug 20, 2021. CWL authentication is an ideal requirement, however, if the Novell to CWL authentication project does not get completed, ORS would continue the current process of uploading the forms to their counterpart’s website, ors.ubc.ca. The filterable Table(PODS) component is what we would use for filtering and searching forms.

Notified the drawbacks of media security in WordPress, and also went over Qualtrics as the ideal, secure alternative for forms.]

Who are your top 3 audiences?
External – community, prospective students, emerging and mid-career artists
Internal – students, faculty
Potential funders
What are your 3 main goals for your new site?
To showcase the public Art collection on campus, to have a presence for the new downtown gallery and to have a presence for the FINA gallery on campus.

There are changes recently to how the Curator positions functions, it has recently moved to FCCS from the library and there is work being done to make this more of a university gallery rather than a student gallery for their work during the academic year. Over the next year there will be more outside artists exhibiting on campus, which will make the gallery more legitimate in the art world and allow the curator staff to apply for funding through Canada Council, BC Arts Council etc. or operating funding, and will be a step to creating the new downtown gallery space.

Not exactly sure on this, there is work being done to get a new collection management system for the art collection already with Chris Danek, but maybe there is some way to integrate…
